Micheal Moore's Movie Sicko

Did I mention that I've seen "Sicko"? It was a great film, with some very real ups and downs. Being that I have parents who face the healthcare cost crisis, not to mention only being able to afford insuring my children and not myself, I dare say that Micheal Moore is truly onto something with this flick!

But to lighten the mood a bit, there was a part of the movie where it was suggested that if you want good healthcare, you should marry a Canadian and move there! There's a website called Hook-A-Canuck.com where you can actually meet single Canadians willing to help an American out a bit... Here's the link to the promo ad.

Also, read this write up by a native Texan, I thought this was quite amusing!!

Enjoy! Then as I always say; DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! Click on the link, sign the petition for H.R. 676. Then spread the word!!!!!

I'm a bit surprised by your take on this. You appear to distrust the government as corrupt and possibly racist, however you're willing to let them take over health care.

Besides all the other problems with government run anything, if this were the case then wouldn't you as a black lesbian fall much further down the list of people waiting for any given visit/treatment?

Do you think the politically connected won't have top priority over the average person? Will the good doctors be happy to take a pay cut or will they find a new profession or leave?

Have you ever spoke to a veteran who has had to deal with the VA hospitals and doctors? Specifically one who has had a minor problem that was allowed to become more severe as a result of the long waits, sub-par service and refusal to do the proper tests to determine the true problem? I know one of them who broke his ankle. After they "fixed him" he got an infection for which a prescription was given that didn't help. After over a year of waiting and being at their mercy he lost his leg from the knee down.

Is that the kind of thing you'd like for your children?

Wouldn't it be much better if the rates were reduced to reasonable? instead of paying $500 for a bottle of prescription (same as over the counter) Tylenol you'd pay the same price as if you got it at the store. Instead of paying more if you're not insured everyone would pay the same price while retaining the ability to go to who you want, to receive quick competent medical care.

Ask yourself why the government wants to limit the profit that oil companies can make, but here, with something everyone actually NEEDS they want to take it over. if it was a quality of life issue they would be nationalizing the oil companies as well. It's NOT about what's best for us, it's about what's best for the government.

As with most things they do it's about control. I'll dare drop the "S" word here, it's about slavery. One step at a time they are working to make us all slaves. They provide food in the form of government programs. They provide housing. They provide healthcare. They take a larger percentage of your income while threatening you through taxes. What do they ask in return? Your labor to keep the economy humming along so who can benefit? Who owns the companies, and the shares, and who hangs out with the movers and shakers from the large corporations? Is it you or is it the people that we keep putting in office who are out of touch with the reality? What is the average net worth of any elected person dem or repub? A lot more then you and me combined.

How many people in those government programs can ever get out? How many of them ever reach the levels that the political class lives at?
